__What is covered in my Oral-B warranty?__

Your Oral-B warranty starts on the day of purchase and runs for 2 years. If your Oral-B product is defective during the warranty period, the affected component will be exchanged with a new, original replacement part of equal or greater specification.*

The warranty does not cover cosmetic damage such as scratches, or damage caused by:
•	Normal wear and tear

•	Accident, misuse, dirt or water

•	The product being tampered with

•	Improper use

•	Repairs carried out by agents not authorized by Oral-B/Braun

•	Failure to take proper care of the product, including recharging

•	The product being altered or used for commercial purposes

__How do I register for the Oral-B extended warranty?__

You can register your Oral-B electric toothbrush for an additional 1 year extended warranty if you sign up within 2 years from date of purchase. You will need to enter personal details and details of your brush, so make sure you have it to hand when registering.

Once registered, you will receive an email to confirm your extended warranty registration.  If you don’t have an email address, just print a copy of the registration confirmation page when your registration is complete.  Please keep your email confirmation or registration confirmation and receipt safe, as you will need to send a copy in the unlikely event that you need to make a claim against our general warranty terms and conditions during the extended period.

Alternatively, you can sign up for Oral-B Me via the Oral-B App (as of version 5.2) to get the warranty extension. If your toothbrush handle is Bluetooth-enabled, you don’t need to enter product information – your handle will be recognized automatically by the app. If your toothbrush does not have Bluetooth, you’ll need to manually enter your toothbrush model information to get the warranty.

For optimal results, we recommend you change your brush head every 3 months, after you have been ill or when the bristles become worn.

__New brush head does not fit?__

Sometimes the previous brush head can break, and the bit on the inside can get stuck on the metal shaft. Underneath this is the oblong connection that will fit your new brush heads.

To fix this, try running the toothbrush’s top section (around the plastic connector and metal shaft) under warm water for at least ten seconds. Then, see if you can pull the extra bit off. You might have to give it quite a forceful tug, but it should come right off. If it does, your new brush head should fit.

Sometimes toothpaste can build up under the brush head and solidify to quite a tight bond. Then, when the brush head is ready to be replaced, it can break when removing it to leave this piece behind. To prevent this, we recommend the cleaning and maintenance routine noted in the manual.

How do I remove an Oral-B brush head that's stuck on the brush?

To remove a brush head that's stuck on your toothbrush, try running the toothbrush’s top section under warm water for at least ten seconds. Then, see if you can pull it off. You might have to give it quite a forceful tug, but it should come right off.

A red light on your [Oral-B electric toothbrush](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/electric-toothbrushes) could be one of the following four things:

•	__Oral-B Visible Pressure sensor:__ Many of our toothbrushes feature a visible pressure sensor. If you're pressing too hard on your teeth, it will light up. Remember there's no need to brush hard or scrub -- move the [toothbrush](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/manual-toothbrushes) slowly from tooth to tooth and let the brush do the work.

•	__Stuck toothpaste:__ Is the pressure sensor lit up all the time? Sometimes a bit of [toothpaste](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/toothpaste) can get stuck around the metal pin which connects to the brush head, and this can trip the pressure sensor. To fix this, try rinsing the metal pin and handle under warm water for at least ten seconds. To prevent this in the future, make sure after every use to remove the [replaceable brush head](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/replacement-brush-heads/everyday) and rinse both parts, before drying and storing them separately.

•	__Low battery indicator:__ If the red light is near the bottom of the handle, this could be the low battery indicator (PRO range). It lights up when it’s time to charge your toothbrush, as there is only enough power left in the battery for 1 or 2 more brushes. Now would be a good time to charge it.

•	__SmartRing:__ Lastly, the Smart, Genius and iO toothbrushes feature a customizable SmartRing which provides visual feedback on your brushing pressure, brushing time and selected mode. How do I know if my Oral-B Vitality toothbrush is charging?

The best way to check whether the [Oral-B Vitality brush](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/electric-toothbrushes/vitality) is charging is to pick the toothbrush up off the charger after 30 minutes and switch it on. If it comes to life, you know it's charging. Switch it back off and leave it on the charging stand for the full 16 hours it needs to complete a full charge.

With these toothbrushes it's important to know that they need to be turned off in order to accept a charge. As there is no indicator light to let you know and only one button for both the on/off position, sometimes it can be tricky. If your [toothbrush](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/manual-toothbrushes) runs flat/dies while brushing your teeth, please make sure that you press the on/off button to switch it off. Even though there's no power, if you don't press that button it will remain turn "on" and therefore won't accept a charge when placed on the charging base.

If you pick your brush up after 30 minutes to check, push the on/off button and nothing happens, it was likely in the "on" position while it was sitting on the charger and therefore did not charge. Do not press the button again, place the brush back on the charger, then try again in 30 minutes.

Finally, ensure to place your toothbrush correctly on the charger. The correct way is to place the brush with the logo facing forward – opposite the charger.

Why won't the timer on my Oral-B toothbrush stop on its own?

Oral-B electric toothbrushes include a 2-minute timer to help you brush for the dentist-recommended 2 minutes. With most models, the brush will stutter or shake briefly every 30 seconds to let you know it’s time to move to another area of your mouth, and then after 2 minutes it won’t shut off but will simply stutter a little more noticeably to let you know that you’ve brushed for the recommended time. With some Vitality models, the brush will stutter just once -- after the 2 minutes is up.

When you are done brushing, you’ll need to manually press the on/off switch to turn the toothbrush off, otherwise it will stay switched on, except for Oral-B iO models which stop after 5 minutes. We don’t have an automatic cut-off because you might want to continue brushing to make sure you’ve got as good a clean as you’d like. After all, it’s your toothbrush to use as you wish!

1.	Make sure your toothbrush is charged. Many electric toothbrushes have charge level indicator lights, so you can actually see when the toothbrush is charged.
2.	Apply toothpaste to the brush head. To avoid splashing, guide the [brush head ](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/replacement-brush-heads/everyday "https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/replacement-brush-heads/everyday")to your teeth before switching on the brush. 
3.	Start with the outside surfaces of the teeth. Guide the brush head slowly from tooth to tooth, holding the brush head in place for a few seconds against each tooth before moving on to the next one. Follow along with the shape of each tooth and the curve of the gums.
4.	Repeat Step 3 on the inside surfaces of the teeth.
5.	Repeat Step 3 on the chewing surfaces of the teeth as well as behind the back teeth.
6.	Direct the brush head along the gum line and upon the gums. Again, do not press hard or scrub.
7.	Try grazing the brush head along your tongue and the roof of your mouth, back to front, to help freshen your breath.

Remember, when using a rechargeable electric toothbrush, it isn't necessary to press hard or scrub. Simply guide the brush while it provides the brushing action. In fact, some Oral-B electric toothbrushes have pressure sensors that alert you when you’re brushing too hard.

This will identify which model of electric toothbrush you have. It is a 4-digit number which can be found on the underside of your toothbrush and is highlighted by the red arrows below. The Type Number should also be listed on the user manual for your toothbrush.

__Production Code__
This may be needed if you contact Oral-B with questions about your toothbrush. The format varies depending on the model; the blue arrows below point to the production codes for those brushes.

Please note that the packaging or box for your toothbrush might also list a Type Number. If it says "Type 3757", that's actually the Type Number for the charger, not the toothbrush. To double-check, you can find the charger Type Number on the underside of the charger.

- Be sure you’re charging for the full time noted in the manual. For iO series as of 7 it takes 3 hours. For our Vitality toothbrushes, that’s 16 hours. For the other brushes, they should be charged for up to 24 hours.

- Make sure you are not charging the [toothbrush](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/manual-toothbrushes) on a metal surface. The metal can interfere with the charging process.

- With our [Vitality](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/electric-toothbrushes/vitality) and [PRO toothbrushes](https://www.oralb.co.uk/en-gb/product-collections/electric-toothbrushes/pro), it can sometimes be difficult to know when they’re correctly switched off. If they’re on the charger while switched on, they won’t charge correctly. The best thing to do is to put it on the charger for 30 minutes or so, and then try to switch it on. If it switches on, that’s great, and it was correctly switched off while charging. However, if doesn’t switch on, that might mean that it wasn’t switched off during charging.

Note that this can take up to 15 minutes to start happening if the toothbrush was entirely drained of battery during brushing. When charging is complete, the blinking should stop.
